Angel Trevino
DRUMS/GUITAR INSTRUCTOR
Angel R. Trevino, a native of Pharr, discovered his passion for music at a tender age of 6, guided by his father, Marcos Trevino, who introduced him to the guitar. Those initial 3 chords ignited a lifelong musical journey.
Progressing rapidly, by age 9, Angel delved into drums, teaching himself to play along with songs.
His formal musical education commenced at LBJ Middle School and PSJA North High School under the guidance of mentors like Ms. Keller, Mrs. Dornbusch, and Mr. Juan “Rod’ Rodriguez, where he began reading music.
Angel’s tenure as a percussionist in PSJA ISD’s award-winning concert, marching, and jazz bands (2007-2012) saw him step onto the stage at 14 as the drummer for his first metal band. This marked the genesis of his career as a versatile “Drummer-for-hire,” embracing various genres like Worship, rock, heavy metal, blues, jazz, and Latin music.
The crowning moment arrived in 2013 when his band clinched 1st place at “No Fear, No Distraction’s” Battle of the Bands. Subsequently, Angel embarked on his inaugural professional tour in 2015 as a Latin percussionist with Circo Hermano Vazquez.
Post-circus life led Angel to briefly redirect his focus on finances, but music’s allure proved irresistible. Joining Musical Living Academy in 2016 in an administrative role, he transitioned to teaching and cultivating his skills further. By 2018, Angel was instructing guitar and drums, leveraging academic guitar theory to create his own music.
His commitment extends beyond teaching; Angel actively contributes to the music community by performing with diverse artists on weekends and providing an array of services, from guitar repairs to equipment rentals, benefiting musicians in the lower-valley area.
Working with the talented minds of the RGV, Angel cherishes the privilege of spreading musical love, continuously sharing and gaining knowledge, fostering a harmonious blend of education and performance.
