Chris Cruz
RHYTHM/DRUMS INSTRUCTOR
Chris Cruz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Texas State University.
During his time at Texas State, he performed with a variety of ensembles, including the percussion ensembles, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra (as principal percussionist), Steel Band, Salsa Band, The Bobcat Marching Band, the Bobcat Basketball Band, and the Austin Symphonic Band. Mr. Cruz has studied under Robert Lopez, Kari Klier, Daniel Glass, Rene Gonzalez, and Jeff Queen.
After graduating, Mr. Cruz became the percussion director at McAllen High School. He has served three years, where he has led various percussion ensembles including the Salsa Steel band, marimba band, indoor concert percussion ensemble, Morris Middle School percussion ensemble, Morris Middle School Drumline, and the marching percussion ensembles at McAllen High School.
When Mr. Cruz is not working with his students, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Amy and dog Kylo.
