Oscar Salinas
GUITAR INSTRUCTOR
Oscar Salinas is a multi-instrumentalist native to the RGV, with over ten years of experience in various ensembles throughout the state of Texas. From a young age, he was drawn to singing and music, and continued his pursuit of music throughout adolescence in public school music classes.
However, his thirst for deepening his education in music led him to start playing trumpet in middle school and continued all the way through high school where he participated in countless wind ensemble, jazz, and marching band performances.
Oscar joined the Mission High School choir and participated in many different ensembles, including the 2015 and 2016 TMEA All-State Mixed Choirs. During which, he taught himself to play guitar, playing along to his favorite rock, pop, and country songs.
Oscar studied for 4 years at Southwestern University where he deepened his knowledge and experience at the Sarofim School of Fine Arts. During which, he studied music theory, music history and literature, and took private guitar lessons. He also studied voice in private lessons under Dr. Bruce Cain.
Oscar’s true passion is sharing his love and knowledge for music with others, in the forms of giving constructive and thoughtful feedback/instruction, performing, and writing.
