Thomas Mullin

GUITAR INSTRUCTOR

Thomas Mullin grew up in a musically enriched environment, with his grandparents playing in a big band, his mother singing in the church choir, and his father working as a live sound engineer.

Music quickly became a central part of his life, leading him to begin playing guitar over 20 years ago and studying trombone throughout grade school. His passion for music extended into his academic journey at Northwest Vista College, where he studied music theory, piano, classical guitar, and jazz trombone, eventually becoming section leader in the Jazz Band.

His dedication earned him a spot in the A-JAM mentorship, which led to festival performances and a live show on KRTU 91.7 in San Antonio, and he represented the school at the 2015 IASJ International Jazz Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal.

Mullin's talents in music composition were recognized when his work "Fugue in G Major for Guitar, Violin & Cello" earned 1st Runner-Up in the Jack Stone Award for New Music in 2014. He later pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition from the University of Texas at San Antonio, supported by a full scholarship as a 2015 Non-Traditional Terry Scholar.

His educational journey took him abroad in 2018 to study composition, music history, piano, and mandolin at the Università' Degli Studi Di Urbino in Italy, where he performed with a jazz band and had original compositions performed in concerts.

Deeply passionate about the art of creating music, Mullin is eager to share his love of music with others. His experiences performing, composing, and studying have shaped him, and he is dedicated to helping others discover the melodies within themselves.
